THE YARN SHOP NEWS

Here are a couple pictures of just a little yarn that has arrived since my last newsletter!

This is a shipment of Malabrigo that finally arrived that I have been impatiently waiting for. I received lots of colors in merino worsted and chunky, silky merino, aquanella, and their new merino twist. It is such a soft and yummy yarn!

Berroco and Plymouth shipments arrive weekly so it is hard to keep track but this is one of the many deliveries I get each month.

Here is 100% Angora that I brought in for all the angora lovers out there. I have more colors that are on back order that I hope arrive soon.

Sock lovers..............you had better sit down. Knit One Crochet Too has a new sock yarn called Crock-O-Dye that is simply delicious. It is a 65% superwash wool, 20% nylon and 15% silk with 416 yards per 100 gram hank.

Psssssst..................It could also make a wonderful shawl.

ROSEMARY'S PROJECTS:
I am feeling like things are back to normal for me, and I have managed to get to knitting now that I'm settled in my new shop and home. Here are the things that I have gotten done since my move from Cornish in February.

Here is a cute dress and hat set that I knit to display in the shop. I used Baby Bunny yarn that is 60% Pima Cotton, 30% Modal, 10% Angora. It knit to 5 sts = 1" on a 7 needle. It will look adorable on any daughter or granddaughter!

This is a free pattern that is offered with the purchase of Jeanne DK. It was fun to knit and can be done in no time at all.

I put together this simple feather and fan pattern using Noro Kureyon Sock yarn and knit this scarf. It shows the colorway of Noro so nicely and will look great on a coat or around the neck over an indoor top.

This is a new pattern from Ann Norling that I knit using a 100% silk yarn, pictured on the left, and Noro Sock yarn on the right. This is an easy short row multi-directional scarf pattern that has a nice finished look and can be made in any weight yarn. I loved the fingering weight best for these scarves to be warn indoors.

SHARE YOUR PROJECTS: I have some great projects to show you this month from knitters that were willing to share what they knit. If you would like to share something you knit from yarn or patterns purchased at my shop please bring the finished project in so I can get a picture of it to show off in a future newsletter!

Here is Charlene showing the Thursday night "Open Knitting" group her shawl that was almost done. She planned to wear it that weekend. It was made with Kudo and everyone loved it.

Here is Nancy with a beautiful shawl that she knit using two skeins of Roncho Sock yarn and the "Ulmus" pattern on Ravelry.

Nancy also knit this beautiful shawl from a pattern called "Citron" that she got off Knitty.com using a lace weight yarn.
Don't you think she did a beautiful job?

Stacy knit herself a wonderful shawl using Encore Chunky yarn and Plymouth's pattern P243. She looks quite proud in her shawl and rightly so!

Rosemary's "Yarn Shop" is the home of "GATHERING HANDS"

Attention: Spring and summer is the time to restock all my projects in order to have them ready for the fall and winter months of giving. However; chemo caps are needed for year round ware, so some cotton or light fiber knit caps are great to be worn in the warm months and I have very few to give. I'm always seeking knitters and crocheters to help with all the projects listed below and would appreciate your support.

Gathering Hands is comprised of knitters and crocheters who share a common goal of helping others through various projects. You don't need to live close by to be part of Gathering Hands. Our hands can reach many!

Everyone is invited to be a part of GATHERING HANDS. You can help from your own home or your own knitting/crochet group and if in Maine or within driving distance of the Windham area please drop by and say hello.

"GATHERING HANDS" PROJECTS:

OPERATION HOMEFRONT KIDS: The intention of this project is to make a difference in the life of a child from Maine who has a parent serving in the Military. I'm working together with the Non-profit organization called "Operation Homefront" that has chapters throughout the United States. The Maine chapter has requested that the items should be made to fit from newborn to age 13. I'm looking for sweaters; hats, scarves & mittens; socks, purses, afghans or what you think a child would like.

OPERATION SUNSHINE BEARS: This is such a touching and fun project. I have a free one-seam knit Teddy Bear pattern available at the shop or by email at your request. The bears will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House and Maine Medical Child Life Program Barbara Bush Wing in Portland, Maine, and to Police and Firemen to give to children in crisis. These are wonderful Teddy Bears and I hope you will participate by making them too and help bring a smile to the face of a child. I want to give a very special "Thank You" to Eva McDonald who created this pattern and gave me permission to use and alter it for this project.

OPERATION RICHIE'S CAP: This is a project for making chemo caps for cancer patients in memory of my friend, Richie Aaron. I have created a knit and crochet pattern and it's free when you'll make a cap to donate. This project continues to be such a success as I receive hats from all over the country from customers that have come by the shop or read about it on-line and mail them on to me. I encourage yarns for warm caps for winter months and cotton, bamboo, etc. for summer months to protect against the sun.

OPERATION WARM HANDS: This is another wonderful project of making mittens for donation for the 2009-2010 winter season to those with a need. What a great small project for the knitter with little time and so worth while to a child with cold hands! I invite you to help in this project......it's a great summer project too!

ROSEMARY'S GIFT & YARN SHOP IS NOW A PROJECT LINUS DROP OFF LOCATION: Please drop off quilted blankets or knit and crochet afghans for Project Linus at my shop. To learn more about the Cumberland Chapter for Project Linus click HERE for their latest blog.

IF YOU KNIT OR CROCHET......CAN YOU HELP AND BECOME A PART OF GATHERING HANDS?
